1) All practices are mandatory, unless excused in advance by a member of the coaching staff. Communicate with your coaches if there is a conflict. Participation in meets is not an entitlement, but rather the result of hard work and effort. 2) Unexcused absences will not be tolerated. 3) You are expected to take care of appointments, schoolwork, make up tests, etc. on your own time. Before school or during SRB. 4) Profanity is not tolerated. 5) Be on time for practices, meetings and bus departures. Being late is disrespectful to the coaches, to the sport, and to your teammates. 6) Keep an eye on your track gear, you are financially responsible for anything lost or stolen. Do not switch gear with teammates without letting me know first. If you do not turn in gear that was checked out to you, you will be charged for it. Slickers: $100 / Sweat Top: $30 / Sweat Pants: $25 / Jerseys: $25) 7) During meets, shirttails should be tucked in and the wearing of jewelry is not allowed. 8) Bus trips/meets. The only music allowed, are walkmans. 9) You may ride home with parents after a meet, but one of your parents must speak to one of the coaches first. You cannot ride home with relatives, friends or somebody else’s parents. Anything other than your own parents must be cleared in the office the day before the meet. 10) Be faithful to practice, work hard and you will go somewhere! “Champions Are Made In Practice”We expect all of our athletes to exemplify the program with pride and honor. We expect the very best from each and every one of you on a daily basis – hard work will more times than not, lead to talent. Your work ethic will truly define the mark that you leave herewith this program. Always remind yourself and seek to be the hardest working athlete you know and you’ll fulfill the expectations of Oriole Track & Field. Meanwhile, if you are unable to commit to the expectations of Oriole Track & Field, the coaching staff fully respects your commitments elsewhere. Be honest with the coaching staff and especially yourself – go honor your other commitments if they conflict with the expectations of Oriole Track & Field.
We look forward to working with all of you. This is your team! But, let me remind you that it is not a club – it is a sport that dates back to the ancient Greeks! This program exists for the athletes!
What do you want it to achieve when we complete this season? Finally, ask yourself, “how do you plan on leaving your mark” here with this program…?
